Who We Are

We are a group of professional pilots, educators, scientists, engineers, curators, mechanics and more, who want to impart our years of experience to the next up and coming generation of aviation professionals. We are STEM geeks and are excited to welcome your children to all that aviation has to offer. Many of our staff are rotational because of the high demand of our careers, but this gives the opportunity to meet a wide variety of our instructional staff.

Brittany Greer

Brittany began learning to fly when she was 16 years old. She has over 1,000+ hours of flight time, is an instrument-rated and Commercial licensed pilot and FAA certified flight instructor. As a military wife and homeschooling mother of 3 children, she loves flying in her Piper Cherokee and is known for tagging her kids along for morning flights to Big Bear Airport (L35) for pancakes. Her favorite planes to fly are the Piper Cub and any warbird she can get her hands on. She and her husband are command pilots for Angel Flight West and are Mission Aviation Fellowship advocates.

FUN FACT: Brittany is afraid of heights.

Daniel Greer

Daniel has served in the U.S. Air Force for over 15 years, beginning as a crew chief. He then commissioned as an officer and now flies the KC- 135 Stratotanker. Daniel has flown several military aircraft and holds an Airline Transportation Pilot Rating, Airplane Single/ Multi-Engine Land Certificate and is an FAA certified Flight Instructor. Daniel earned his MA in Management from AMU.

FUN FACT: Daniel raced on the professional BMX circuit, and once held the NAG 1 title.

Jason Gumbert

Jason has served in the fire service for over 15 years. His earliest memories of flying were with his Grandpa in a Cessna 172 as a kid. Jason is a licensed paramedic and currently works as a fire engineer paramedic for the fire department. Jason enjoys flying with his wife and children and is a proud aircraft owner. 

FUN FACT: Jason plays the guitar.

Stephanie Gumbert

Stephanie is a key director at Wings and Rotors Academy and is responsible for majority of oversight and curriculum development. She also manages our web and media relations. Stephanie holds a student pilot certificate and a UAS/drone operator certificate. She is also a homeschooling mother of 3 children.

FUN FACT: Stephanie plays the piano and ukulele.

Alex Daigle

Alex has been flying for 12 years. His aviation goal is to fly for a major airline. He currently holds a FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate, Certified Flight Instructor Certificate, Advanced Ground Instructor Certificate, and UAS/Drone Operator Certificate. He is a devoted husband and father of two boys.

Fun Fact: He is a dedicated Anaheim Ducks fan.

Tyler Parkins

Tyler is an FAA Certified Flight Instructor and commercial helicopter pilot. He's flown across the U.S. from Alaska to Florida. Tyler has experience in the Robinson R22, R44, AStar, Bell 206, 407 and 427. Tyler is available to instruct and offer guidance to any of our students interested in career helicopter piloting.

Cameron Shankland

Cameron Shankland has been flying since age 17, completing training in French Valley, California and Salt Lake City, Utah. He is a commercially licensed pilot, with an instrument rating in single and multi engine airplanes. Cameron has nearly 300 hours flying anywhere from the coast to the mountainous terrain of Idaho and Montana. He has completed training in minor aerobatics and is currently finishing his bachelor's degree in Aviation Science. Cameron is eager to pass on the joys of aviation on to those who are excited to learn!

Lucas Howick

Lucas is a talented pilot and instructor. He holds a Commercial pilot license and is an FAA certified flight instructor in helicopters. He flies the Robinson-22, Robinson-44 and is building his time in fixed wing aircraft as well. His expertise allows him to train everyone from entry level student pilots to experienced fixed wing instructors. Lucas enjoys hockey, fishing and off roading in his Jeep.

FUN FACT: When Lucas isn't riding his motorcycle he spends his days landing on Taxiway Alpha

Erica Salas

Erica is an experienced and passionate educator earning her credentials from National University and MA from Azusa Pacific University. She has taught ELA and Science in a charter school classroom for grades 6th-8th. After many years in the hustle and bustle, she is excited to offer her expertise in a small group setting and is available for 1:1 tutoring with Wings and Rotors Academy students. She is a proud wife and mom of 2 boys.


FUN FACT: Erica is the owner of a local crafting business: Crafts
